Business Nouse Wins Londoner A Cornish Farm Holiday

August 18, 2009 News No Comments

Razor-sharp business acumen has won a London recruitment consultant an idyllic holiday on a Cornish farm.

Clapham resident Annabelle Moggridge correctly predicted the three top-placed contestants in BBC show The Apprentice – eight weeks before Sir Alan Sugar (now Lord Sugar) made his final decision – to win the competition run by Cornish Farm Holidays and recruitment website 1Job.co.uk.

And last week, Annabelle enjoyed her free five-day break at Degembris Farmhouse near Newquay with boyfriend Nick Causer.

“It’s been my first time staying on a farm and it’s such a contrast to London life – it’s been exactly what we needed to get away from it all,” said Annabelle, who works for London firm Modis International.

“You can go out and explore everything Cornwall has to offer, but when you come back there’s just complete quiet, it’s gorgeous. It’s a beautiful place, really picturesque, and definitely better than staying in a hotel because there’s so much character. It’s like a hidden gem, tucked away down all these little lanes – I don’t want to go back home.”

Annabelle’s work as a Recruitment Management Consultant has clearly given her a keen eye for strong job candidates, helping her correctly identify Yasmina Siadatan as the eventual winner of The Apprentice.

Annabelle beat hundreds of entries from candidates and recruiters all over the UK to win the holiday, citing Yasmina’s drive, ability and raw instinct for business as the reasons for picking her as the TV show’s eventual winner.

She was also delighted with her choice of accommodation in Cornwall, selecting Degembris Farmhouse from Cornish Farm Holidays’ portfolio of over 80 farms offering quality self-catering and B&B; accommodation.

Using the farmhouse as a base, the couple made the most of exploring the county’s landmarks and attractions, taking in the Eden Project and St Ives, as well as Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and a tour of Camel Valley Vineyard.

Beaches were also on the agenda, with Annabelle and Nick visiting Porthcurno and a particular favourite: Holywell Bay.

Said Annabelle: “I didn’t realise how gorgeous it was going to be, all the beaches are amazing. Cornwall’s got loads to offer people, and there are loads of gorgeous little restaurants. And I would definitely consider coming to a farm again, it was so peaceful here.”

Astute Recruiter Predicted ‘The Apprentice’ Winner And Runners-Up To Win A Holiday In Cornwall

July 31, 2009 News No Comments

A recruitment Managing Consultant Annabelle Moggridge at Modis International Limited, picked the winner and runner-up contenders of the hit TV show ‘The Apprentice’ to win the 1Job.co.uk and CornishFarmHolidays.co.uk ‘The Apprentice – Predict The Winner Competition 2009’.

Annabelle predicted Yasmina Siadatan was the best candidate to win, she also accurately predicted second and third place contestants as well. Her predictions were made after week 4 of the show, where the contestants had to produce, package and sell natural body care products. It was also where the team Yasmina was in made a huge mistake over the costings of their products. Yasmina went on to successfully defend herself in the boardroom against the team leader, HR Consultant Paula Jones, who was then fired by Sir Alan Sugar.

Annabelle said, “When you are working in recruitment you get a keen eye for strong candidates. I could see Yasmina had raw instinct for business, and the drive and ability to go with it. I was also impressed with her career so far – owning her own restaurant [The Mya Lacarte in Caversham, Reading] at the age of 27. She showed herself as passionate and professional, and having highly innovative business ideas culminating in her Cocoa Electric chocolates concept that I loved in the final show”.

Yasmina took the £100,000 a year job and works under Sir Alan’s eldest son Simon Sugar at Amscreen, a company that specialises in selling advertising space based around screens, using wireless technology, provided to hospitals, supermarkets, garages etc.

The competition was organised and run by 1Job.co.uk, the UK’s no.1 job search engine, and CornishFarmHolidays.co.uk the premier site for farm holiday accommodation in Cornwall.

Julian Felstead MD of 1Job said, “Cornish Farm Holidays and ourselves are delighted to finally announce the winner of the competition. Annabelle will be staying in a beautiful cottage that she has selected near Newquay this summer… I just hope the weather’s good for her!”

Annabelle’s predictions beat hundreds of entries from candidates and recruiters all over the UK.
Entries were taken on 1Job’s highly popular blog and forum website: TheApprenticeForum.co.uk, which has followed the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’ series this year and previous years.

After 12 long weeks Sir Alan (now Lord Alan) finally selected Yasmina Siadatan over Kate Walsh saying “I can’t put it into words why I chose Yasmina it was just gut instinct”.

Julian Felstead commented, “If Sir Alan had only been able to take Annabelle’s expert advice, he could have appointed Yasmina after the 4th week and got her working 8 weeks earlier than he did!”.
