Finalists for the 2010 NORAs revealed

September 29, 2010 News No Comments

2010 marks the tenth anniversary of the National Online Recruitment Awards, for which HR Magazine are Media Partner. This year, almost 28,000 nominations were made, for 592 separate recruitment websites. Founder of the NORAs, and Chair of the judging panel, Stephen O’Donnell said, “We are proud to announce the most diverse shortlist of Finalists in the history of the NORAs. The standard this year, particular amongst UK employers, has greatly impressed, and shows a marked advancement in progressive and sophisticated recruitment methods via the Internet. This year we have a special award to mark our 10th anniversary. The “Recruitment Website of the Decade Award will recognise websites which have made the greatest contribution to online recruitment, from a candidate’s perspective.” This is a one-off award to celebrate the site that has consistently been pushing the boundaries for candidate experience over the past 10 years. Nominees will be made up of all finalists and winners of the NORA since 2001. The winner of this award will have demonstrated that they are a true leader in the field over time, and should be the site to watch for the coming decade.

The awards event itself, will be held on Thursday 4th November, in Covent Garden, London. Full details of the NORAs can be seen at www.NORAuk.com.

1Job.co.uk set to do a ‘Kate Winslet’ at the Onrec Awards

March 18, 2009 News No Comments

For the fourth year running, 1Job.co.uk has been nominated for the much coveted 2009 Onrec “Best Technical Innovation Award”. Appropriately the award is sponsored by international recruitment technology consultancy company Arbita.

‘We came a very close second behind The Guardian last year, and are now confident we can beat off all the competition this year.’ said MD Julian Felstead. ‘If Kate Winslet can win eventually after all her nominations, I’m sure we can pull it off as well. I just have to make sure not to forget my acceptance speech and break down in tears!’ Julian quipped.

This year 1Job.co.uk has been recognised for having the UK’s most unique job search engine platform. In the majority of cases, the 1Job robot crawler automatically collects job details from clients with no set-up being required. Other job aggregators require their clients to provide them with special job feeds for updating their adverts and this costs them time and money.

On 1Job.co.uk jobs are automatically categorised by sector and location, enabling candidates to find the greatest number of jobs that might suit them, faster. The 1Job platform also uses an enhanced keyword search system that utilises the original adverts description terms. Others only provide a less efficient and limited keyword search.

This approach contributes to a higher than industry-average candidate conversion rate with the added bonus that every job advert also becomes a search link to the client’s website.

Displaying up to 450,000 fresh vacancies each day, and sending over 1 million click thrus each month directly to their clients job advert, it comes as no surprise that 1Job.co.uk is recognised as the No.1 most visited job search engine in the UK. (Hitwise 2008 Award)

The Onrec awards will be formally announced on the 25th March at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel London. A full list of other award finalists can be viewed at the Onrec.com site at: www.onrec.com/awards
